Programming

A Call to College provides services and programming to students from second grade through senior year in the eleven school buildings that make up the Newark City School District. Services and programming are also available to juniors and seniors who chose to attend C-TEC or Newark Digital Academy. In addition, Newark City School graduates who receive Last Dollar Grants and currently attend college, continue to be offered assistance filling out the Free Application for Financial Aid Form (FAFSA), have the opportunity to renew their scholarship and have the opportunity to give back to the program by volunteering.  To learn more about the different programs that make up A Call to College, please click on the following links:

Thank you, Volunteers!

268 community volunteers provided 2,124 hours of service this past year.

“My experience with the PEAK program has been as a volunteer for "Reading Rocks at the Library." I, and other residents of Kendal, a local senior living community, visit with second graders at the downtown Newark library. We talk with them about how books are avenues to grand stories, valuable information, adventures, and excitement. For some of the kids, it's the first time they've been inside the library. They seem to have a grand time, and they're full of questions. I've done this for several years now, and I'm persuaded that the work being done by the PEAK program is memorable and important for the children.”
