“To assure every Newark City Schools student the opportunity to pursue and complete education after high school.”

A Day in the Life of A Call to College

After 30 years the message from A Call to College remains: post-high school education has tangible value. See behind the scenes how our team encourages NCS students to be forward-focused.

A Call to College provides services and programming to students from second grade through senior year in the twelve school buildings that make up the Newark City School District. Services and programming are also available to juniors and seniors who chose to attend C-TEC or NCS Digital. In addition, Newark City School graduates who receive Last Dollar Grants and currently attend college, continue to be offered assistance filling out the Free Application for Financial Aid Form (FAFSA), have the opportunity to renew their scholarship and have the opportunity to give back to the program by volunteering.  To learn more about the different programs that make up A Call to College, please click on the following links:

Thank you, Volunteers!

100 volunteers provided 1,218 hours of service this past year.

“I have volunteered with this wonderful organization for over 20 years. The way in which ACTC assists students through the entire college admissions and financial aid process is significant and unlike other college access programs. They plant the seed of "College is Possible" as early as second grade with their elementary and middle school programming. Then they continue this groundwork by assisting juniors and seniors through the college process. And then to award over four million dollars in need-based grants just speaks volumes for what ACTC is capable of. Newark City Schools is so fortunate to have this resource available to students and parents To say I am proud to be involved with ACTC is an understatement.”
